SCKAT Privacy Policy

Welcome! This is the Privacy Policy for the SCKAT app (the “App”). The App is a mobile dating app, it can be downloaded from the most commonly used app stores (Apple, Google).

In short, we only use your data to offer you the App, to communicate and keep in touch with you, to gain insight in the use of the App and for our own administration. We do not sell your data.

What types of personal do we collect and what for?

​

Note that the App cannot be used by persons below the age of 18 which means we do not collect personal data about people younger than 18.

Information when logging in:

​

You can use the App after you have signed up for an account. You will have to enter your email address and a pass word or code, otherwise you cannot register your account. Your email address is used to secure your account, to send you relevant messages about the App and marketing messages from us and to communicate with you.

You can also access your account with available social media logins. If you choose this login option, we will receive login information from the social media provider (user ID, name, email address) to allow you to login with your social media account. The social media login is used for account registration and to secure access to your account in the App.

Information you add to your profile:

​

You can fill out your personal details in your profile such as: your name, date of birth, gender, height, interests, who you are interested in (e.g. men, women, non-binary etc.), what you are using the App for, bio, profile picture, language preferences. Some of the data are required to be able to open an account (this shows from the registration process), including your name, date of birth and gender. For some of the data, you can either choose to show it on your profile or hide it so that it’s not shown to other users. Do note that if you hide certain information on your profile, it will still be used to match you to other users (this is the App’s main purpose). The information you fill out is used to find suitable matches between users, for other users to see information about you, to personalize recommendations for you and to be able to interact and communicate with you. Your age is also used to verify whether you are old enough to use the App.

Interactions with other users:

​

You can choose to connect to other users, interact and share information with other users, such as in stories you create, sharing waves, chat messages with other users. This allows you to share information about yourself with other users and to communicate with them. Your messages with other users are encrypted.

Sensitive data:

​

You may decide to add sensitive data to the App, such as information about your health in your bio or about your religion in messages to other users. Under EU law, sensitive data are one of the following types of personal data: information about your health, about your sex life or sexual orientation, political opinions, race or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, biometric data or genetic data. We do urge you to think carefully about sensitive data you share with other users.

Information about your location:

​

In the App you will get a notification about turning on your location. You location is collected when you sign up or log in to your account, when you switch tabs or change the location filter. The location is necessary to make use of the App’s functionalities (to show your general location to other users in your area, for language settings) and also to limit misuse of the App for example by persons with malicious intentions. Your exact location is not shared with other users, only your general location.

Information about notifications:

You can flag content of others users in the App, for example if you believe this is illegal or non-permissible. You can also notify us separately about content of other users. Such notifications are registered in our systems. We use automated tools to detect and prevent the upload of adult or otherwise inappropriate images. We may also make reports or moderation notes about such notifications as well as our own moderation efforts. All these types of information are used for enforcement of our terms of use (including our community guidelines) as well as complying with legal obligations.

Payment information:

You can pay for the App (or in-app purchases) through the relevant app store. We do not receive your payment information from the payment provider but they do inform us whether your payment was successful or not. Also, we collect information about your subscription status and feature access. We use this information for (tax) administration purposes.

Information (technical data) about your mobile device:

​

We receive technical information about your mobile device such as: mobile device information, the type and version of the operating system of your device, IP address. We use such data to for security purposes, for the stability of the App and to gain general insight into the use of the App.. We only use this information for our own business purposes.

On what lawful basis do we process your personal data?

​

We use your personal data to be able to conclude and perform our agreement with you, which is the agreement for the use of the App, to fulfil our legal obligations for (tax) administration purposes and for our legitimate interests, namely offering the App, gaining insight into the use thereof, improving our services, communicating with you and more generally running our business.

For certain specific situations we ask your consent. For example when you add sensitive information to the App. In most cases, you can withdraw your consent in the App itself (for example by updating your profile information or removing a message), and otherwise by contacting us using the contact details at the bottom of this Privacy Policy.

We may also become legally compelled to process your data, for example to remove content you have uploaded or created in the App if this is illegal or in violation of our terms of use, to contact you if you violate our terms of use or to share your data with third parties (for example with competent government authorities or third parties whose rights are infringed).

How can you manage your personal data?

Editing information in your profile:

​

You can edit your profile information (except for your age) at any time through the settings in your account.

​

Deleting your account:

​

You can delete your account at any time. You can find the “Delete Account” button in your settings. When you delete your account, your data will also be deleted or anonymized without undue delay but not within 30 days after you have deleted your account.

​

We must retain data in our financial (tax) administration for a period of seven years and we may retain personal data in relation to legal obligations, for archiving purposes or a dispute for as long as is required for those purposes.

Getting an archive of your personal data:

​

If you would like to receive an archive of your personal data, please send us an email (preferably before you delete your account but ultimately 30 days after your account is closed) and we will arrange for you to get it. We may, as applicable, also offer a functionality allowing you to download an archive your personal data from the App directly.

​

Separate requests:

​

You may ask us for access and a copy of your data, erasure thereof, rectification of incorrect personal data, you may object to processing of your personal data, ask us to restrict your data, revoke your consent, and to ask for an archive of your data processed electronically on the basis of consent or for the performance of the agreement we have with you. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

With whom do we share your personal data?

​

We share your personal data with our service providers that allow us to offer you the App. This includes service provides who provide development, authentication, storage, data base and email services. We also use a provider of artificial intelligence services to enable you to use certain functionalities in the App. These service providers process your data only on our behalf and only to be able to provide the App.

You can pay for the App or in-app purchases through the app store payment providers. They process your data under their own responsibility. Please find their privacy statements here:

We may be compelled to share your data with third parties on the basis of legitimate grounds. For example with law enforcement agencies if you have committed a criminal act through the use of the App.

Where are your personal data processed?

​

Your personal data can be stored or processed outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”) in a country without an adequate level of personal data protection. These data transfers take place on the basis of EU Standard Contractual Clauses or, for the United States, on the basis of the service provider’s Data Privacy Framework certification.

Can we update this Privacy Policy?

​

If there are important changes in the processing of your personal data, we will have to update this Privacy Policy to reflect those changes. We will notify you of such changes, for example by email or through a notification in the App. An example of a non-essential change would be an update of our contact details.
